blue eyes
The mommy of these beautiful blue eyed children is the president of my son’s preschool. She does such an amazing job and is truly dedicated to making our school the best it can be! How does she do all that AND raise three kids? Im not sure, I think she must be one of those super-moms I always hear about!
Meredith’s daughter, Meghan, is in my son’s class and she is such a cutie-patootie. She loves putting together her own outfits each morning which don’t match but always have personality, spunk, some shade of pink and most of the time there are sparkles or tutus involved as well! We love her! It was so much fun meeting up at a nearby park to capture a few photos of the kids before they go and do what all kids do…grow up too quickly!

Delaney Katherine

I had a long conversation with an old friend last night who I don’t see often enough…maybe once or twice a year. She asked about the kids and how was Miss Delaney. What is she doing now? What is she like? The only word that came to mind was Sweetness. She is just so sweet. She loves her brother and looks at him with utter adoration when he is teaching her something new. She looks up to him. But at the same time, she mothers him. More than once, she has asked for his cup of milk before taking her own, so she can bring it over to him and then come back for hers. If he coughs while eating dinner she asks, “You O’tay?” and then instructs him, “Drink some milk!” and then, “You better now?” 21 months…not so much a baby anymore yet not a big girl either. Im loving this age…and this child.
Memorial Day
This post is long overdue…
Memorial Day, the day we remember the valor and bravery of those who have fought in past wars and pay tribute to our soldiers who are overseas fighting for our freedom right now. Yes, it is wonderful that we have a special day to commemorate these heros, but the truth is, Ive been thinking about this young man (and many young men like him who are fighting in Iraq and Afganistan) EVERYDAY for several months now. Unfortunately, sometimes it does take a loss that hits a little too close to home before you even THINK about what is happening over there. But it is so important that we acknowledge the reality of it and do what we can to bring these men home safely and soon.
Jeremy is the son of our close friends and neighbors who left a few weeks ago for Afganistan. His dad wanted some special photos taken of them together before he left. Jeremy is in our thoughts and prayers daily as we await his safe return!!! Please keep him in your prayers too! Thank you, Jeremy for all that you do to keep us safe here at home. We are more grateful than you will ever know!

The guys sporting their tough guy GQ pose…

It matters not that he is a few inches taller than his Dad now, or that he is a brave soldier ready to face a war…he is somebody’s little boy…and always will be.

It’s official, FPCP has the CUTEST kids in Indy!
And here’s one of them…

I’m taking photos at our preschool this week…Fishers Pointe Cooperative Preschool. I am so in love with these kids. And I think the fact that it is a coop, which really feels more like family than a school, Im even more excited to be doing this!
I have to say though, it can be hard work! My wonderful friend/babysitter/photo assistant, Janet said it perfectly after a morning of taking photos, “Man, you’ve gotta be a walking circus to do preschool photos!” And its true! We’ve been completely embarrassing ourselves this week doing everything short of standing on our heads and a few of the kids still won’t even crack a smile! Lol!
But the stories I’ve been hearing are precious. I asked one little guy where he got his beautiful blue and eyes and he said so seriously, “Ummm…from Target.” And I know lots more than I used to know about Cheetahs from another adorable blue eyed boy named Jack.

Dancers take over Belgium train station! Hilarious!
I found this little gem over at Tara Whitney’s blog and HAD to share it here too!
We’ve been watching a lot of Mary Poppins around here these days and every time I see the chimney sweep dance I crack up! Musicals are so hilarious…like when would those guys ever have the time to get together and choreograph a routine like that?! And Mary just stands there smiling like it is so ordinary. I guess I overthink them just a little.
Check this out!
It is actually a TMobile commercial but I didnt know it until after i watched it.
Hudson is One!
Happy Birthday Hudson!
I had the honor of photographing one of the cutest and best dressed kids in Indianapolis last weekend to capture some images to commemorate his first birthday. Hudson was so sweet and content for the whole session… even with a couple of outfit changes, moving him around the house to find the best light and a quick trip outdoors in the cold! But he was rewarded at the end of the session with a big cake to smash and eat all on his own and a fun dip in the kitchen sink to wash up!
Hope you guys had a fun holiday weekend in Chicago!

Loving Two
For myself, and a lot of mom’s I know, welcoming a second child into the family is bittersweet. While I loved all of my babies from the moment I knew about their existence, I also felt a little guilty. I thought that in sharing my love with another baby I would somehow be taking away love and attention from my first-born. Who, after-all, was my first-born…something incredibly special…could I even love a new baby as much as that?
When I shared these feelings with my mother in law one day, she quickly said, “No, no…you will see…love for your children is like a bottomless well. There is exactly enough for each and every child you have.” Sure, in the beginning it is hard to balance long nursing sessions with games of Candy Land and still have a moment left over for yourself, but soon (with lots of help from family and friends, hopefully!) things settle into a nice routine. And the most amazing part? Watching your first-born love his new baby and teach her about the world and how things work.
I know this little man, Zachary, will have so much fun helping to take care of, loving, teaching and playing with his new brother or sister. He is so sensitive and sweet, that the new baby will be so lucky to have him looking out for him/her!
